Virtual Reality Gambling Is Real And It Will Blow Your Mind
If you are still trying to figure out what’s going to be ’the next big thing’ in gambling - you clearly don’t know what happened in London during the ICE Totally Gaming conference.
While most casino operators were fishing for players and affiliates with new products and attractive promotions, Microgaming blew everyone’s mind with their award-winning VR Roulette game.
Virtual Reality Gambling Looks…Amazing
Every time people talks about stuff like the (expensive) Oculus Rift, Samsung’s (promising) Gear VR, and the (cheap) Google Cardboard project, I can see many wonder if this will ever be a thing.
Microsoft amazed the world then they demoed their HoloLens project, but it’s still hard to understand if Virtual Reality will ever take off and revolutionize the world as we see it, or it will be soon forgotten like the 3D TVs.
In an interesting piece on Mashable, Raymond Wong showed how ‘entertaining’ adult content can be on the Oculus Rift, but the limited availability of the device - together with its high price and the very limited amount of content available for it - make the future of Virtual Reality still an unsafe bet.
Amongst those who are sure that Virtual Reality is not something that will reach only the first or the second stage in Roger’s Technology Adoption Life Cycle is Microgaming. The gaming software developer believe Virtual Reality is here to stay and have already started to develop some amazing products that might change the way we play.
“Over the past few years, we have been looking at a variety of different technologies. We have been tracking Google, Microsoft, and other industry leaders to see what they are doing with this technology and we are pleased to see that they are following suit in the same direction that we are heading,” a Virtual Reality Technician at Microgaming’s CRYO Lab explained.
“We were the first to embrace the mobile revolution. We are now predicting that next is Virtual Reality and we are going to make sure that we will be part of that wave” Neil White, Head of Product Channels at Microgaming said.
“We have also experimented with Augmented Reality and we have seen how that can be used for marketing and promotions, as well as turning some land-based scratch card products into online products that can be used on wearables,” White continued.
But if Augmented Reality is ‘entertainment’, Virtual Reality is a ‘revolution’. “We created our Virtual Reality product to understand the potential of 3D technology and as a result, we’ve taken the Oculus Rift with the Leap Motion product to create an immersive world where players can play roulette.”
The result is what you can see in the clip below: an amazing game that seems to have won all those who were lucky enough to try it.
