Casino Hold'Em: Rules and Strategy to Get You Started

Casino Hold'em, also known as Caribbean Hold’em, is a variation of Texas Hold'em Poker, which is possibly the most popular card game in the world today.

Players are competing against the dealer instead of other players. This fun casino card game became popular in brick and mortar casinos and is now also available online through CasinoSmash’s partner sites.

A hand of Casino Hold’em begins after a player places a wager on the ANTE area and clicks on the DEAL button.

Both the player and the dealer then receive two face down hole cards, and three community cards (flop) are dealt face up in the middle of the table.

Players then have the option of:
Calling - a Call Bet equal to two times the size of the player's original ante must be made.
Folding - surrendering their ante and folding their cards.

If a player calls their hand, two more community cards (turn and river) are dealt into the middle of the table, and the dealer reveals their hand. Both the player and the dealer will make up their best five card poker hands from the two hole cards and five community cards.

The object of Casino Hold'em is to make a better poker hand than the dealer.

For the dealer to qualify, they must have a poker hand that is equal to a pair of fours or better. If the dealer does not qualify then the ante wager will be paid out according to the payout table below.

The call bet in this scenario is a push and this extra bet will be refunded to the player.

If the dealer qualifies and has a poker hand that beats the player’s hand then the dealer wins and both the ante and the bet are lost.

However, if the dealer qualifies but you have the superior hand, then the call bet will be paid out at even money (1:1) and the ante paid out according to the following table:
Royal flush - 100 to 1
Straight flush - 20 to 1
4 of a kind - 10 to 1
Full house - 3 to 1
Flush - 2 to 1
All other - 1 to 1

Many Casino Hold'em games on CasinoSmash partner sites also offer a bonus side bet, referred to as the AA+ Side Bet.

The side bet is based on your two hole cards and the three flop cards. The payout for this bonus bet may vary but typically pays the following:
Royal flush - 100 to 1
Straight flush - 50 to 1
4 of a kind - 40 to 1
Full house - 30 to 1
Flush - 20 to 1
Straight - 7 to 1
Three of a Kind - 7 to 1
Two Pair - 7 to 1
Pair of Aces - 7 to 1

Casino Hold'em Strategy

Casino Hold’em is not a typical poker game and differs in many ways from Texas Hold’em.

Players are competing one on one against the house and are not able to bluff or raise opponents out of hands. The optimal game strategy is to call 82% of your dealt hands making this a fun, action packed casino game.

Although calling most hands is normal, players should always be folding hands with hole cards like 2-7 off. or hands where players only have ten high or less with a paired flop.

The typical house edge is very low at around 2% when following optimal strategy. The AA+ side bets should be avoided due to a higher house edge of 6%.
